Karen's 10th Anniversary Picks: #1

Every month from March through December 2021, Threads Dance Project will release some of Artistic Director Karen L. Charles’ top dances available pay-as-able from $1, $10, $100, or even $1,000 to view Karen’s selected works!

March's picks: Belonging and At First Sight (2011), and In This Skin (2012). 

Why Karen said she chose these dances:

'Belonging and At First Sight were part of the first dance performed in the first show I produced - But the Greatest of these is Love in 2011. The opening section of this piece was my Senior dance project from college, one of the first dances I ever choreographed that was performed on a stage. Additionally, the music is by one of my favorite Musical Artists – Donny Hathaway.

'In this Skin marked the beginnings of my exploration of Identity and what it means. The work displays the struggle that many feel when they are not free to be themselves and the joy of finally shedding the skin that is not your own to emerge as your beautiful authentic self. This performance is the restaging of the piece in 2016.' Karen L. Charles, Artistic Director.

Each release will be 25 - 30 minutes in length. Once registered, you will recieve a private link and password that will allow you to view these works from March 22 - April 4, 2021.
